Holiday Purge

I try to purge... somewhat regularly.  Without regular purges, it seems like (unwanted) things just accumulate, and the accumulation makes me crazy.  So, I'd go through my household and gather my clothes, shoes, kids' clothes, etc. and get rid of them.  I'd sell some of these things on an auction site, or at a local consignment shop, in the hopes of earning back some money.  Sometimes, it was quite an ordeal to get this all done, with multiple trips to consignment shops, photographing items for auction sites, shipping out items and donating to Goodwill Stores.

Recently, I did a pre-holiday purge, and two companies made it that much easier.  First, a friend of mine turned me onto Material Wrld.  They send you a trade-in kit, and you fill the bag with items from their accepted brands list.  Once they receive the items, they inspect and make you an offer for the items they'd like.  You have the option to accept or decline the offer.  The accepted offers are paid to you in the form of a gift card, and for those items they don't accept, you can have those items returned to you.  So far, I have had 7 items accepted, and have yielded Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's gift cards.

The other site I used is ThredUp.  This is a somewhat similar process, starting with a clean-out kit.  There are a few big differences.  First, they accept a wider array of brands.  Second, they accept kids' clothing.  And third, you need to pay $12.99 for Return Assurance, meaning that if ThredUp does not take your item, you pay the fee to have it returned to you.  Otherwise, the process is similar, in that ThredUp makes you an offer for your items, and you can have the money put into your PayPal.

These two sites have made my holiday purge process so easy!  I hope these sites will motivate you to do a New Year's purge in honor of welcoming in a clean closet to 2016.  Check out their sites for more information, as I've only given a quick overview of how I used it.

Shoe love

I love these shoes.  I want these shoes.  I waited for them to go on sale.  Then, they did... and my size was gone.

So, I keep looking, hoping that someone's returned my size.  A 37, in case you're wondering.

Tuesday Ritual

I wish this was my ritual every Tuesday, but it's every 6 Tuesdays.  I get an evening facial.  After work and after dinner, I sneak off to Skin Spirit for an hour.  I love going at this time.  I emerge extracted, hydrated and glowing.  All I need to do is brush my teeth, and I'm ready for sleep.  Can't wait for the next 6th Tuesday.
